A Returning Writers Manifesto.

A Returning Writers Manifesto.

So, after much delay, hardware selection issues, WIFI connection, debugging software, finding the perfect platform, uploading existing pieces to the archive, and getting a personal URL (in progress), it appears that I am ready to resume writing for the first time since 2013. As the surgery is prepared, enter the surgeon. In my case, this detailed preparation may end up producing little more than the battle field dressing necessary before being transferred to the nearest M.A.S.H. unit. But I’m optimistic.

After playing pundit for several months on Facebook under the heading “On the Offensive …with Frank”, I've decided to build on that base by developing a dedicated site, that may utilize the same heading, as a title, or some variation. My initial feedback for the idea was positive, with overall approval and encouragement of friends on Facebook and elsewhere.

Another reason I’ve chosen to re-enter the fray stems from observing the poor level of writing on the social networks, and some professional journalists. I’ve never had a Twitter account, but I’ve read enough tweets to be convinced that doubling the quantity of characters has not improved the quality. Hopefully, my efforts will result in more thoughtful and interesting prose.

My goals are many. First, to resume a pastime that I enjoy and do fore the sake of doing, while publishing online and hoping for feedback. Building a following would be a plus, but not that important. I write for myself and no particular audience. Nor do I feel some of the pressures that create anxiety for so may writers, like “fear of criticism”, or, “writers block”, to name a couple. I think I can write about anything that I’m familiar with, (that’s a great deal at age 65), and several subjects that I’ve accumulated enough knowledge of to claim a certain degree of expertise.

As alluded to above, I intend to comment on a variety of subjects, as evidenced by the articles that will appear in the soon to be established archive. Sharing experiences ranging from managing stock portfolios, to managing livestock, I hope to keep the reader’s attention and even illicit a few responses!

Looking forward to enjoying this rewarding, self-effacing, humorous, sometimes sad, and interesting endeavor for some time to come.

Deo Volente.
